TRADE UNION BOYCOTT FEDERATION OF LABOUR’S VIEWS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 12. . “ The decision,of the National Council of the New Zealand Federation of Labour on August 29, 1946, favoured a multilateral economic boycott of Franco Spain as against the unilateral embargo favoured by some councils,” said the secretary of the. federation,'. Mr K. - McL.: Baxter; Jin. a statement. “ The opinion of the National Council has been conveyed to the-secretary of the World Federation of Trade. Unions at Paris and to the Australian and New Zealand delegate on the Executive Committee. The delegate has been requested, on behalf of the New Zealand Federation of .Labour, to advocate an all-in boycott of Franco Spain by the. trade union movement of the world. The Auckland Trades Council; at a special meeting on September 9, welcomed the decision of the National Council to recommend to trade unionists that an economic boycott be imposed against Franco Spain if the World Federation of Trade Unions decided in favour of multilateral action. In the meantime the decision of the National Council of the Federation of Labour is accepted.”
