TYPHOON IN LUZON

MANILA, September 10,

A 100-mile-an-hour typhoon entered Luzon, headed straight for Manila, when it suddenly swerved- northward, its centre passing 85 miles from the capital. Great damage is feared. Weather officials think that the typhoon will again cross North Luzon, devastating the Cagayan Valley area, which has been on the verge of starvation since the end of the war because of Japanese devastation and croip failures. <
