“CLOSED SHOP”

ON T.U.C, AGENDA MUSICIANS INTRODUCE ISSUE LONDON. September 10. A motion favouring the “ closed shop ” appears on the ’ preliminary agenda of the Trades Union Congress, which will open at Brighton in October. The Labour correspondent of ‘ The Times ’ points out that, while the motion comes from a comparatively small ' body—namely, the Musicians’ Union —it is possible that some of the larger unions may wish it to be discussed. Hitherto the T.U.C. has declined to make the “ closed shop ” part of its policy.
