YOUTH WEEK

OTAGO CHURCHES OF CHRIST These celebrations were held from August 25 to September 1 in the St. Andrew Street Church of Christ, the theme being ‘ The Time Is Now.’ A feature of the opening Sunday was the interchange of youth groups conducting the church services. The first week-night function was a splendidlyattended district social evening, which concluded with a brief devotional period. The highlight of youth week was the rededication service held on the Thursday in the main auditorium, when the largest number for years attended, the speakers being G. Benjamin, K. Mclntyre, and E. IR. Vickery. Items were rendered by Miss Sylvia Arthur and the St. Andrew Street young people’s choir. The concluding combined function was the annual competitions, which reached a very high standard. The hall was packed to capacity, and the excellent programme ivas enojyed by all. The adjudicators were Miss Florence Pacey and Mr W. Armstrong, who commented on the high standard attained. Gompetition for the trophy was exceptionally keen throughout, and resulted iu a win for the St. Andrew Street Youth Group, with South Dunedin second, and North-east Valley third.

Youth week concluded on Sunday with the young people sharing in the services of their home churches. Mention was made during the celebrations of the splendid work done by Mr-Ken. Hope, secretary, and Pastor Lloyd Jones, president.
