REVOLUTION OR RECOVERY?
EVANGELIST'S ADDRESS “ As we look, out.upon a world torn with many conflicting ideologies we are forced to the conclusion that all is not well. Many panaceas have been advocated to heal a sickened .and decadent, humanity, but all have thus far proved abortive,” said Evangelist Harvey in the Strand, Theatre last night when speaking on the, subject World Revolution or World Recovery,’, in a series of ‘ Voice of Prophecy ’ lectures. “ What,” he asked, “is the hope of world recovery ? Is it philosophy ? Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle established one of the greatest systems of philosophy, the world has■ "ever seen, yet it failed to save ancient Greece. Is it legislation? Hammurabi, Justinian and .others have made valuable contributions to the legal code. Man did not need more legislation, but more power. Is it science? Edison, Marconi, and a host of'others have made valuable contributions to the cause of humanity. But science, in view of atomic energy, can no longer I be trusted as the handmaiden of men,”
The preacher went on to say that Christ Himself outlined in. Matthew 24 the march of events on the shifting stage of history. In the long ago the Master said, “ nation shall rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom . . . and there shall be famines and pestilences.” A hurricane of death had left its sordid mark on this twentieth century. The ugliest war of all the ages had just passed. Prodigious problems as the result of global conflict were the order of the day. In conclusion, the speaker said: “ Our problems to-day in the Anal analysis are not sociological but oiological. They have to do with, the human heart. No new world will ever be born unless men and women, its would-be creators, experience a change of heart.”
