■ \ ■ SERVICES AT CAVERSHAM DUTTON FAMILY HONOURED

Special services at the Caversham Presbyterian Church last night marked the dedication of a window in memory of the Hutton family. The Very Rev. D. Hutton, at one-time Moderator of the Presbyterian Assembly, was a minister of the church for 33) years, apart from two war periods when ho was a' padre. Miss Nellie Hutton, a daughter, was superintendent of the Dunedin Kindergarten, aud- there was a son who died at sea.

The Rev. J. L. Sullivan, who conducted the service, gave a brief biographical talk, and after the window was illuminated by Mr H. C. Cameron) Mayor of Dunedin, it was dedicated by prayer. The church was packed to over-flowing,,and.-many tributes were paid. The window was designed by Mr W. J. Brock, The inscription was “To the Glory of God and in loving memory of ■ the Hutton family." “ They rest from their labours and their works do follow them,”* a text taken from Revelations xiv.', 30. Because of Mr Dutton’s service, the ceremony was largely attended by re-presentatives-of military .bodies. The Hon. F. Jones, who belongs to the parish, spoke at the ceremony held later in the ‘Sidey Hall. The chairman of the Kindergarteu Association, the president of the .South African 'Veterans’ . Association (Mr Alex./ Duncan), Mr S. P. Cameron (representing the Returned Services’ Association), Colonel E. J. Anderson, Colonel Bruce Smith, Rev. T. A. Pybus, Dr A' R. Falconer (who served with Mr Dutton in South Africa), and the Rev. John Chisholm, who succeeded him on a hospital ship in the Great War, all paid tributes to his memory. Representatives of the :, Mounted Rifles were amongst the many-who attended what amounted to a: reunion (*f servicemen' for the occasion. 5
