JOHN McGLASHAN COLLEGE
MEETING (SF BOARD OF GOVERNORS The Board of Governors of the John McGlashan College held a meeting this week. Those present were Mr A. C. Cameron (chairman), the Keys. H. A. Mitchell and J. J. Cairuey, Drs J. It. Elder, A. Borrie, and H. D. Skinner, and Messrs T. C. Koss, J. P Cook, C. G. Gray, J. R. Benson, and J. Conolly' (the headmaster). A motion of sympathy was passed with Mr Mitchell, whose mother passed away this week. It was reported that the work of providing three extra classrooms to accommodate the increased number of pupils was being proceeded with. Sketch plans were submitted for extra. accommodation in the boarding establishment. The proposed, building, it was stated, would have room for' 30 additional boys, and, as the need was urgent, it was decided to take the necessary steps to have the work commenced as soon as possible. ',-: It was reported th.it a preliminary meeting of the John McGlashan War Memorial Committee had been held, and that plans for a fitting memorial would be submitted to a further meeting to be held at an early date. The headmaster reported that the football results bad been satisfactory, the second fifteen having won all its four matches since the last report. Mr Conolly also reported the gift of an all-wave wireless set by the McGlashan Association. The board expressed its appreciation of the association's generosity. . # - iTn accepting the resignation of Miss Arbuckle. sub-matron, who is leaving to be married, the hoard expressed its keen appreciation of her services. Miss U. Kennedy lias been appointed to take her place Congratulations were tendered to Mr Conollv on his appointment as honorary A.D.C. to the GovernorGeneral', Sir Bernard Freyberg.
