GOLDEN WEDDING

MR AND MRS RICHARD BOTTIHG Mr and Mrs Richard Botting, of 38 Gladstone road, North-east Valley, will celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of their wedding on Monday. Mr Botting was born in Naseby. At the* age of 21 he opened a butchery business near the Gardens, which he carried on successfully for a number of years. For the last 25 years he had been engaged in farming. Mr Botting married Miss Margaret Stewart, of South Dunedin, on July 22, 1896. They had six sons and one daughter. Four of the sons—Messrs Harold, Stuart, and Allan Dotting, of Dunedin, Mr Ernest Botting, of Balclutha, and the daughter Mrs Dunbar, of Dunedin, are still living. Mr William Botting was killed in Italf. There are 12 grandchildren. '.ln his younger days Mr Botting and his six brothers played football for the Southern Club. He was also a member, of the St. Martin's. Cricket Club, and a keen competitor in New Zealand draughts tournaments, being runner-up for the championship on two occasions. He was a member of the North-east Valley Borough Council for 14 years, and when the borough amalgamated with the city became a city councillor. Mr and Mrs Botting have been members of-the North Dunedin Salvation Army for over 50 years. Mr and Mrs Botting will odeorate their anniversary with a party in the Crawford Lounge on Monday.
