NO-CONFIDENCE MOTION

NOTICE GIVEN BY MR HOLLAND LAND SALES CHAIRMAN AFFAIR (Special.) WELLINGTON, July 20. The reported request by the- Minis-' ter of Lands, Mr Skinner, for the resignation of the chairman of: the Hamilton Land Sales Committee will be discussed in the House next week. In order to make an opportunity .for this debate, the Opposition will move either an adjournment motion, or a motion of no-confidence in the Government-. At the close of yesterday's business in the House, the Leader of the Opposition, Mr Holland, said he would like to ask the Acting Leader of the House, Mr Sullivan, for some indication of the business contemplated for next week. "We will have the Budget on us soon, and we are sitting from Monday to Friday next week." said Mr Holland. Probably on Monday he would seek an opportunity for_ discussion on the request for the resignation of the chairman of the Hamilton Land Sale* Committee. There were two courses open to him, added Mr Holland. The first was to move the adjournment of the House, and the second was a no-: confidence motion. He was announcing his intention, as he did not wish to spring any surprises. Of his two alternatives, the no-confidence motion was more likely, as offering more scope. ._-. . . ■ At this stage the Prime Minister, Mr 'Fraser, entered the House, and Mr Holland repeated his remarks for Mr Fraser's benefit. Mr Fraser said he thought Tuesday would be suitable for p the proposed debate. He was grateful to the Leader of the Opposition for providing such an opportunity for the discussion of public matters, as.the jAd-dress-in-Reply debate ' had seemed to collapse as far as the Opposition was concerned. Monday's business would probably include discussion' of the. United' Nations' report and the report of the Select Committee on Local Government, which might occupy more than one day. _' '-;■ -;
