—Ministerial.— - The Minister of. Defence (the Hon. F. Jones) was engaged in departmental business this morning, and will be similarly occupied on Monday. He will leave.for the north by air on Tuesday morning. Mr C. R. Nicolson, of Dunedin, has been appointed a director of the PerPetuai Trustees Estate and Agency Company of New Zealand Ltd. Mr W. A. Pope, of Christchurch, Grand Master of. the Loyal; Orange Institution, is a visitor to. Dunedin. The University of New Zealand has received advice by cablegram that British Council Scholarships, have been awarded to: the following three New Zealand students:—E. M. Ojala, M.Agr.Sc., 8.A., who is to undertake research into international . cooperation in agricultural production; Miss D. M. .Pasalich; M.A., Dip. Ed., physical' education specialist; Mrs A. Rosenberg, M.A., who will undertake a study of overseas methods in the training of social workers, with special reference to psychiatry.—Wellington Press Association; The first Royal.. New Zealand ’ Air Force Pilot to receive an appointment with the British Overseas Airways Corporation since the war, Flight-lieuten-ant T. E. Neave, of Kurow, North Otago, will leave New Zealand v nest month to take up a post with the company as first officer on the Empire flying boat run. Flight-lieutenant Neave. who is 25. is' an ; experienced R.N.Z.A.F .Catalina and Sunderland pilot. He is at present stationed at Auckland* attached to the Silnderland squadron which is operating the. Fiji passenger transport service. Joining the Air Force in 1941, : he served for several years during the war in flying boats of the R.A;F. Coastal Command, and in 1944 was one df .'the pilots chosen to fly. one of'the R.N.Z.A.F.’* four Sunderlands out from England. Flight-lieutenant'Neave was captain of the Sunderland which recently flew the Ministerial party to the Chatham Islands He has .1,800 hours on flying boats to ,his credit. —Press; Association. Riddell in May and the arrival of Mr Alfred Rive, the High' Commissioner designate. Mr • Walker was born in-India, educated in .England, and went to Canada, in. 1910.
