ASSOCIATION OF THE BLIND

ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Association of the Blind of Otago was held on Wednesday evening, when the president, Mr J. N. Beckett, occupied 'the chair. The annual report and balance sheet were adopted. The President explained that the work of the association had been extended by the formation of a weekly crafts class under the guidance of Mr and Mrs Kilgour. An exhibition of work done by the members was displayed in a window lent for the purpose'by the H.B. Clothing Store. The other activities of the association included quarterly socials, at which lectures or concerts were provided. The following officers were. elected for the ensuing year:—President,- Mr J. N. Beckett; secretary, Mr C. R. Allen; committee Miss Aitken, Messrs A. N. Price, R. Kilgour, and P. Milburn. Mention was made of the death of Mr W. Wheeler, who had been a member of the association almost since its inception, members standing in silence as a tribute to his memoryVotes of thanks were passed to Miss Macdonald, and her assistant, Miss Stevenson, who attend to the wants of blind readers making use of the library of books in Braille and Moon housed in the basement of the Public Library, to the management of the various picture theatres, and to the members of the Dunedin municipal transport system for assistance to the i blind. . . '
