U.N.O. REFUGEE COMMITTEE
VOTE OF CONFIDENCE IK CHaIEMM LONDON, April 23. Mr Hector McNeil, chairman of the United Nations Refugee Committee, was accorded a vote of confidence when the committee again met after the Easter recess. Yugoslavia's delegate, Dr Rebler, at the meeting on April 18, had challenged Mr McNeil's authority in ruling out a motion--that a commission should be sent to certain refugee camps to investigate the position concerning " screening - collaborators and other undesirables." Mr McNeil to-day said he bore no grudge against any member of the committee, but if he' was to remain chairman he must have some authority. He asked the committee to rote on whether it approved a discussion on the Yugoslav motion, and added that if it approved he would vacate the chair. A roll call resulted in one vote in favour of a discussion and II against. There were five abstentions. The committee then debated the resettlement of refugees. The French delegate, M. Bouzquet, suggested the creation of a single international committee, which would not only finance and assist all refugees, but assume the protection of refugees, both statutory and non-statutory. The dabate was adjourned.
