FORBURY PARK TROTS

REREWAKA IN FAVOUR PRINCESS MARITZA A POSSIBILITY The . Forbury Park Trotting. -Club's Winter Meeting will open to-morrow, the first race starting at 11.15." Since its last meeting the club has made several alterations to the buildings, and provision has been made foT a luncheon .room in a former Army hut. The fields will be good in most of the races, and if the weather remains fine the track will be in excellent order. The following are the-fields and selections I'11.15

Several improving young trotters off the front have some useful places performances to their credit, while others will be making their first appearance in public. T-blerate has been in a place five times recently, and can generally be trusted to give a smooth exhibition of trotting. Others off the limit who have shown promise are Cathay j Ivondale, and Lucky Bill. Sure Note, giving away 24yds, was a winner at Kaikoura last month, and promises to be one of the hardest to beat if the big field off the limit does not hamper him. Belle Header is another, who raced prominently at Kaikoura. and is sure to find strong support. One of the most j consistent .trotters to race on Southland tracks this year has been Misty- ! dale, and, even though she is conceding up to 108yds; she can not be overlooked. Those likely to find support are:— Sure Note. Bell Header. Tolerate. Noon — DOMAIN HANDICAP, £325. Class

Darrington Hall has missed a place only once this season at meetings in the south, and is a likely improver. Nelsonova is a distinct possibility among those on the front, while Great Show has some useful performances to hack him up. Valola scored an easy win at the Banks Peninsula meeting' last month, but later failed at New' Brighton. In this field she looks to have a good opportunity to make amends. Daisy Gold, who is by the brilliant Gold Bar, scored two convincing wins at West Coast meetings before disappointing at Addington. Direct Medium, winner of two races this term, as well as several placings, must be considered. The favourite may come from: Darrington Hall. Nelsonova.. 'Direct Medium. 12.45 BEACH HANDICAP, £450. Class 4.40. ,2m.

Dopnholme won three races in the early part of the season, but has since raced moderately. A repetition of his early form would entitle him to a chance. Honest Peter generally lives up to his name, and is always near the placed horses. At his last start Tom Gundy put up a brilliant effort to win after being a long way back iu the early running. Forbury patrons will remember his fine performance when he won there at 'the last meeting. Czardas won at Canterbury Park recently, and is sure to be in demand again. Janet Hall has been a useful stake earner, in recent weeks, and if she does not find the two mile journey beyond her she should be in the firing* line at the finish. The following are selected : Tom Gundy. Czardas. Janet Hall. 1.30RITCHIE MEMORIAL HANDICAP, £7OO. Class 4.34.. 2m.

•The big race has not drawn a large field, but if they all stare if should provide an interesting contest. Communique has had a lot of racing, and met with very little success, this season. Princess Maritza is a good'stayer, and recently ran second at Addington in a similar class, Radical finishing third and Communique fourth. Will Cary, who will race as a trotter, has put up some good performances against pacers in the past, and is always a possibility. Fancy Goods has not raced since she registered & sterling performance to win at New Brighton four weeks ago. and with a small field in front of her here should again race well. Those likely to find uspport are:— Princess Maritza. Radical, Fancy Goods. 2.15

VICTORY HANDICAP, £425. Class 3.52. Trotters. 1m of. Flying Scott scr Rerewaika ... 12 Mamanuas ... scr Gleeve Hill 24 Mistydale ... scr Nationalist ... 48 Frank Scott 12 Flying Scott .has not been a profitable horse to follow, but ran third at his last start at. Addington. Mistjdale is engaged earlier in the day, and will prove hard in whichever race she starts. Rerewaka will probably be installed favourite after his forward showing at Addington last Saturday, when he ran a good second. Cleeve Hill and Nationalist have been trying for a long time now, and can hardly be expected to improve; There will only be two place dividends, and they look like being paid on:— Rerewaka. . Mistydale. 3.0 ST. CLAIR HANDICAP, £375. Class

There are several useful horses engaged" in the St. Clair Handicap, all being on the limit except Notus. Jolly Biddy,'like-Notiis, was a winner at Riverton' on Tuesday, and both these horses will carry a lot of support from the south. Justify and Minmi Boy have raced well recently j and Tony Grattan is also a recent winner. Worthy Prince won atKaikoura over a mile and a-quarter, and is likely to be strongly fancied. The winner may come from Worthy Prince. Jolly Biddy. Tony Grattan. 3.45 RENOWN HANDICAP, £4OO. Class 3.8. lm 3f. Convincer ... scr Volo's VicDoonholme scr tory scr Elaine Travis scr Will Cary Hargood's ' (T.) scr Pride ... scr Arion Mac ... 12 Honest Peter scr Czardas ... ... 12 Justify ... scr Janet Hall ... 12 Max Baer Trevathan ... 12 (P.) ... ... scr Bank Again 24 Nelsonova ... scr Northern Sea Max (T;) scr ' Lass ... ... 24 Tom Gundy scr. Several of the field.engaged here, will be seen out earlier in the day, and the best guide to their chances may be gained then. Sea Max is probably the best trotter in training at the present arid) if her failure in the Trotting

Free-For-All last Saturday is overlooked she will have a host of supporters. Northern Lass will be making her first appearance for the day, and it will be remembered she was a winner at New Brighton recently, when she returned a sensational dividend. With so many horses holding earlier engagements, it is hard to make a selection, •but at present it looks like Janet Hall Tom Gundy Doonholme. 4,30 FLYING HANDICAP, £SOO. Class

The concluding event has attracted a field, of 10, and should provide a good betting race to-finish off the clay. Logan Rey, who is,, on the limit here, has shown ■ a liking for short races, and may be seen to advantage. Lou Hall is a winner of three races this season, and she is the type that may be on the improve. Several of the •remainder hold an earlier engagement, and have already''been 'dealt with. The- most popular fancies may prove to be Logan Rey. Lou Hall. ' Radical.
