This wa6 disclosed by the Finance Minister, M. Andre Philip, before the Finance Commission of the Assembly. Responsible financial authorities in Paris later said they did not doubt that France would be deprived of her last ounce of gold by the end of the year. The officials hoped that the remaining gold, totalling about £198.000,000, would hold out until France received credit facilities. The ißourse weakened immediately on hearing of the impending withdrawals.
