ATOMIC RESEARCH

INSTALLATION OF MACHINERY AT DIDCOT VERY OPEN "SECRET SPOT" (IRec. 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, April' 14. The last truckload of machinery for the installation of Britain's top secret atomic research plant has been delivered at Harwell aerodrome, near Didcot, says the ' Daily Mail.' Everything is now ready for the 2,000 workers who will construct and operate the plant. . The ' Daily Mail reporter complains that "this most secret spot "—plans of which were recently alleged in the Canadian atom spy inquiry to have been stolen—is practically " open to visitors." He declares that he strolled into hangars containing machinery for the plant from Berkshire Downs, inspected machinery, and wandered out through the front gate, where War Department constabulary were guarding the approaches to hangars from only one direction.
