DOMINION TOURNEY DIFFICULTIES PROBLEM OF ACCOMMODATION The increasing difficulty experienced by centres in which the annual Dominion bowling tournament is held in finding accommodation for visiting bowlers was mentioned at the meeting of the Dunedin Bowling Centre on Saturday night by Mr G. Adess. In view of this he moved that it be a xeiiommendation to the New Zealand Howling Association that the tournament shall be played in two sections, one in the South island and the other in the North Island, and that the finals in singles, pairs, and fours should be played in a centre to be decided on each year. The secretary (Mr R. S. M. Sinclair) said the accommodation problem was so acute in Wellington that he understood the local centre proposed to suggest to the Dominion body that it should be relieved of the responsibility of providing for visiting bowlers at the tournament nest January. The position, Mr Sinclair added, was complicated by the fact that the tournament was set down for race week. " That simply means that there will be no accommodation for bowlers at all, and the number of entries will be automatically reduced." Mr Sinclair said it had been proposed to hold the tournament later in January, but that would prevent a number of players from participating. The proposal was lost, only four delegates supporting it. TOURNAMENT ANOMALY. The anomalous position under the two-life system in New Zealand Bowling Association tournaments of players or teams meeting each other twice on the same day, was referred to by the secretary. Several glaring instances had been brought under his notice, at the last tournament in Christchurch, the secretary said, and in one case the same four players had been engaged in successive games. He thought the matter might very well be the subject of a remit from the centre to the annual meeting of the association. Mr H. S. Reid said he had brought the matter up on a previous occasion. He thought it absurd that some players should meet each other twice, but would not meet other players at all. Mr Reid then moved that the following remit be forwarded by the centre to the annual_ meeting of the association : —" That in association tournaments where a competition, or any part thereof, is conducted under the twolife system, the Tournament Committee shall alter, where possible on the ! result sheet, the position of players I who have met in a previous round." The motion was strongly supported by delegates and carried unanimously. OTHER MATTERS. The question of blazers was brought up by Mr C. R. Caffin, but as delegates pointed out that it seemed useless to do anything about the matter in view of the inability of the mills to provide the necessary material, no action was taken. In connection with the annual mecting_ of the New Zealand Bowling Association it was decided to support the nominees of the Wellington Centre as president and treasurer, and to nominate Mr J. 'J. Davis as vice-presi-dent. Messrs S. Devereux and W. 0. Clark were elected the centre's councillors to the New Zealand Bowling Association. At a meeting of the Executive Committee, Mr W. Johnston, convener of the Tournament Committee, reported on the Easter tournament, which is to be commenced on Thursday.
