AUSTRALIAN BROADCASTING

TWO NATIONAL SERVICES CONSIDERED UNECONOMIC SYDNEY, March 18. The Australian Broadcasting Commission believes that to continue two national services during peace time is uneconomic, and will prove embarrassing both to the Department of Information and the commission, according to the chairman of the commission, Mr R. J. F. Boyer. The commission recently proposed that short wave services should again become its responsibility, but Mr A. A. Cahvell, Minister of Information, announced that transfer of the service froln his department was not likely, considering the results obtained during the war. The Department of Information took over the short wave service mainly as a war instrument for propaganda in enemy countries and occupied areas.
