REMOVED RY RUSSIANS

JAP. MACHINERY IN MANCHURIA .PROTEST BV ALLIED GOVERKMEKTS (Rec. 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, Mar. 18. The British Government on March 9 sent a communication to the Soviet Government referring to reports of removal by the Russian forces of Japanese machinery and equipment from Manchuria, stated Mr Hector McNeil, in the House of Commons. The communication recorded the view that the disposal of Japanese assets was a matter for discussion and settlement between the Allied nations having claims to Japanese reparation. It added that the British Government had not acquiesced in the unilateral removal of such assets by a third party from Japan, nor could it recognise any agreement between an individual and a Government which purported to provide for the final disposal and ownership of Japanese property, rights, interests. and assets. Mr McNeil said he understood that the Chinese and American Governments had communicated with the Soviet Government in similar terms.
