OCCUPANTS' NARROW ESCAPE

BOMBER CRASHES INTO HOME (Rec. 11 a.m.) LONDON, March 14. A Lancaster bomber narrowly missed two houses, struck a tree, then crashed into Teraplewood House, near Stroud, which for some time has been used as a Catholic nursing home. The house was set on fire and destroyed. The only occupants at the time were presumably the chaplain, who escaped from a bedroom window by climbing down a tree, and a Cistercian lay brother, who suffered burns and other injuries. The plane is believed to have contained three airmen. Only two thus far have been recovered from the wreckage.
