SPIES IN SOUTH AMERICA
LINKED WITH WAR-TIME SHIPPING LOSSES (Rec. 8 a.m.) Rio De Janeiro, February 27. Seven Germans, including a woman, have been arrested for espionage in Brazil as part of a spy plot in Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, says the Associated Press. The defendants, all of whom face the death penalty, are alleged to be responsible for sabotage during the war and have a responsibility for the sinking of the ships Montserrat and Leipzig and for explosions aboard other ships at Buenos Aires.
