AUSTRIAN QUISLINGS
SIX THOUSAND AWAIT TRIAL (Rec. 1.45 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 28. 'Six thousand suspected Austrian quislings are awaiting trial in Austria, stated Dr Heinrich Schmid, newly-arrived Austrian representative in London. He added that there were also a large, number of suspects in the Austrian Administration, but in view of the interests of Austrian economy it would probably be unwise to pursue investigations into their war-time association with the Nazis. Dr Schmid hoped that the Allied occupation troops would remain for a short time, as there was at present no security organisation in Austria.
