AERIAL MAPPING
WATER AND DRAINAGE AREA TO COST DUNEDIN £640 The aerial mapping of the Dunedin water and drainage area at an estimated cost of £640 has been recommended by the Public Works and Water Committee for the consideration of the City Council. Half the cost of the project will be borne by the Dunedin Drainage and Sewerage Board. ! " These maps will be of great value to the water department in connection with the investigation of the further development of the Silverstream supply, and will save considerable time and expense in the survey of the area," states the report of the Water Committee. Similar maps had been obtained by larger local authorities in the north and had proved of great value. The Works Committee of the Drainage Board states that the aerial maps will be of value, in that the present house-to-house plans, which were prepared at great expense in 1904, are now out of date and cover only portion of the district. To bring these plans up to date would be a long task, and the expense would be considerable. The maps will be prepared on a sixchain scale.
