PRAYER AND POLITICAL ACTION.
TO THE EDITOK. Sir, —A decline of religion, so the argument of " Non Prayer " runs, is brought about by an increase of education. Accompanying the decline of religion and the increase of education ; there is, it is admitted, an increase of divorces. f With further education " Non Prayer" expects there will not only be _a. decline of religion but a decline, instead of an increase of divorces. How will that come about? Hitherto, outside of religious people, nobody has raised a finger in opposition to divorce. With religion declining—by hypothesis—where will the future opposition to divorce come from? If education, as " Non Prayer " says, has brought about a decline of religion in the past 38 years, education has also brought about the frightfulness of two world wars during the same time, and education is still adding to the frightfulness of war. It is a poor argument that works only one way.—l am, etc., February 12. Reason.
