STORM MAY BLOW OVER

11 MUST HOT OCCUR AGAIN " (Rec. 11.35 a.m.) CANBERRA, January 7. Tlie secret United States transport •of 15 Australian girls to Manila may not cause diplomatic complications. The girls, who were employed by the United States forces, were flown from Brisbane last Wednesday without passports. The United States authorities will be asked to guarantee that such apparently high-handed action will not occur again. A Treasury official said inquiries into the Manila trip would' take several days. Taxation records would have to be checked to find out if the girls had obtained taxation clearances. It was possible that arrangements had been made for tax deductions during the girls’ absence from Australia. United States air force officers at Eagle Farm aerodrome will be asked to give an adequate explanation of the girls’ transport.
