GQGHET BEATEN IN FINAL (Rec. 10 a.m.) BARCELONA, Dec. 30. The French champion, Petra, beat the veteran Davis Cun player, Cochet, 4-6, 6-1, 6-1, 6-3, in the men’s singles final in the national lawn tennis tournament. The Spaniards, Massip and Bartroli, won the men’s doubles final against Cochet and Petra, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.

Fire badly damaged a motor car when it collided with another car at the corner of Napier street and Ivenmure road. Mornington, shortly after 1 a.m. yesterday. The Central Brigade was summoned to the outhreak. but the car, which belongs to Mr R Newey, of English Avenue, was already well alight. The other car received only minor damage, and the occupants of both escaped injury.
