Sir F. H. Bourke, secretary of the union, said this morning that the master bakers’ resolution had been referred to the men at all the main bakers in Auckland, and they werp nnanimous that they should abide by the resolution and work a 40-hour week from to-morrow.

The omoloyers’ claim that the Industrial Disputes Committee fixed a six-day week for the industry last February was incorrect, said Mr Bourke. The committee had only the power to fix the terms on which the men worked under the dispute at the time, and had no power to alter the law.
