REGATTA REVIVED
MACAMtREW BAY FIXTURE Postponed from Boxing Day, on account of bad weather, the Macandrew flay Regatta was held on Saturday afternoon under better, though by no means pei'fect, conditions, and the revival of the fixture was received with gratification. There was a light northeast breeze, which died during the latter part of the afternoon, ana the rain held off for the most part until the majority of the- events had , been decided. Although some •; of the yacht races had barely sufficient wind, the water was perfect for rowing, and this section olf the day’s programme .was disposed of with commendable speed, the final race being over well ahead of scheduled time. In spite of the uncertain state of the weather there was a good attendance of the public, a large number of cars being parked along the edge of the road round the bay, which served as a natural grandstand from which the various e vents could be‘'witnessed.
The - programme ' was run off smoothly, reflecting credit on'the work of the officials, who were as follows.:- —■ Commodore, Mr H. C.'Brown; vicecommodore, Mr J. Kibblewhite; rearcommodore, Mr S, Hewley; judges of motor boats and yachts—-Messrs J. P. Vivian, G. F, Bewley,. and W. H. Riddell ; starters —Messrs It. Hellyer, K. Kellas, andl J.
