Good Cast in Form

Unfortunately for ' the Dunedin Jockey Club, the unseasonable weather is showing every indication of persistence and the outlook for the third and final day is far from encouraging. The going is again likely to be on the soft side.° and those horses prominent on Wednesday should play a leading part again. One of the pleasing features of the card is the fact that eight have been paid up for the James Hazlett Cup. The following are the fields and fancies:— 11 a.m.— - OWHIRO HURDLES, £4OO. lfm.

Commemorate won well last Saturday. Prize'Ring did not start over hurdles on the first day, but was the leader to the straight in the President’s Handicap. He will meet Commemorate on 151 b better terms than when Commemorate beat him at Riccarton. Sandy Cane lias not been seen out at the meeting. Sir. Saladni, if kept near the leaders, should be very hard to beat, and The Raker will have friends. Robert is improving as a hurdler. Robert, Sir Saladin, and Commemorate may be most prominent.

Deficiency and Patmos are the only form horses. Red Pickle may shape best of the others.

Great Coon was not extended to win on Wednesday. Lyirdall may race better over seven furlongs. Sterling Lad, if begins the hardest to beat. Gamble and Peter Gazelle also appeal. Most support may be for Great Coon, Sterling Lad, Gamble, or Peter Gazelle.

DUNEDIN JOCKEY CLUB HANDICAP, £I,OOO. lm 3f.

Good Cast, provided he does not pull as hard as he did in the Dunedin Cup, should be difficult'to head. Authentic, a fresh horse and suited by the going, must be dangerous. If here. Western Front will be well supported. Eastern Coin appeals most of the remainder. Good Cast, Authentic, Eastern Coin, or Western Front should race conspicuously.

Peter Gazelle reads dangerous again, more especially if an apprentice is put up Joy Rosa is coining back to form, and Salad has raced consistently. Siegform has been prominent oyer longer journeys, and has improved prospects over seven furlongs. The favourites may be Peter Gazelle, Joy Rosa, and Salad.

Stagestruck won so well on the first day that he must be hard to beat again. Cipher and Faites vos Jeux may also be fancied.

Amorlad is reaching his best form again, and track conditions will suit him. Irish Note has always acted best on a firm track. The issue appears to be between this pair. 4.20 WAIHOLA HANDICAP, £SOO. lm 3f.

Western Front will probably have an allowance, and must be hard to beat. Thornbridge, Rabiri, Te Anau Lady, Pink Clover, Siegform, and Ruling Moment are reliable over this distance. Eudora is very well at present. Those to appeal most however, are Western Front, Eudora, and Pink Clover,
