BREAD AND DELIVERIES.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—“ Democrat ” does not contradict the facts we put forward —namely: Bread burnt and not baked; shortweight in open pans; and French loaf not available. When one reckons up the scraping done by the housewife, the loss to the consumer is considerable. We had deliveries ,60 years ago, and the bread we got then was a much better loaf than we get to-day—good digestive. After reading the health advertisements 1 am surprised at the poor quality of bread which the bakers nut out with their machinces and the-pub-lic has to purchase—no comparison with the old 41b loaf at od.—l am, etc.; Dec. 22.
