RETURNING SERVICEMEN

SUPPLEMENTARY NAVAL LIST A supplementary list has been issued of naval personnel returning to New Zealand in H.M.S. Atheling. The following are the names of the Otago men Bloxham. Nathaniel L., A.J3., ICaitaiigata. Coll. Edward McL., A.8.,' South Otago. Forbes. Ivan J., Sto.2/C., Oamaru. Guffie. Ernest J.. Sig., Millers Flat. Ritchie. Roderick K., Ord. Sea., 91 Cavell street.

V. Richards followed, and two lefthanders were together. Chalmers was batting freely, hut was dropped by Couper at point. Richards had a narrow escape from being run out. The cricket was much brighter now, offside driving being a feature with both batsmen. At 92, however, Richards hit Couper high into the deep, and Reid took an easv catch. 92—4—21.

The next batsman was G. Hughes, and he got Smart nicely past point for 4. Later he drove Couper to Reid straight into the deep, but the impact injured the fieldsman’s hand, and he left the field. A mistv rain had been falling for a while. Hughes gave his second chane at 14, but at once drove the bowler, Couper, for 4, following it with a straight drive for 6. The hundred came up in 105 minutes. Chalmers got a nasty knock on the hand from Kiuley and retired, A. Berry coming in. ' Hughes was missed at midoff, the greasy ball making catching difficult. Coull. the fourth left-hander of the five bowlers tried, replaced Kinley. Heavy rain fell during the luncheon break, and a restart was not made till 2.15 p.m. Following were the scores at the luncheon adjournment:—
