Mr Richard Law (formerly Secretary of State), addressing the Royal Empire Society on politics and the atomic age, said: “Scientists, with a great deal of .ingenuity, persistence, industry, and pertinacity, have evolved this horrible weapon. They are now showing every sign of climbing, out from underneath it, talking a great deal of nonsense and leaving it on the laps of the politicians and people, who have to make the befct job of it they can.” f
