STOPPAGE AVERTED
THE BUNNERONG DISPUTE HEN TO START WORK SYDNEY, October 23. The threat of a revival of the Bunnerong strike, as reported earlier, has been averted by the decision of the general manager of the County Council* Mr D. Nolan, to start the men in the dispute. Mr Nolan said that as the men were not on the pay roll of the County Council, they had been overlooked. The three men were engaged for shiftwork on the day the recent strike began. [An earlier message stated that a hitch had developed in the re-employ-ment of three men at Bunnerong power house, and it was feared' iy some union officials that this might precipitate another stoppage. The 600 strikers who resumed work at Bunnerong at the week-end were to hold a stop-work meeting to consider the alleged victimisation of a returned soldier and two other men. Union officials sought Federal intervention, because it was reported that the County Council officers had refused to start the men when they reported for work.]
