ONLY SON DROWNED. The body of Clifford Rowe Tuffery, aged eight, only son of Mr and Mrs C. R. Tuffery, of New Plymouth, was recovered from the water’s edge near the mouth of the Oakura River yesterday. Though the child had been in the water for. only a short, time, attempts at artificial respiration failed. VERDICT OF DROWNING. A • formal verdict of drowning in the Otago Harbour was returned by the coroner. Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M., at the inquest yesterday into the death of Lawrence Sheriff, aged 79, whose body was found near the entrance of the harbour on Sunday afternoon after lie had been missing since September 22.
