DROWNING FATALITIES. A Maori boy, James Toura, agedlO, was drowned in the Wanganui River at the Castlecliff wharf early on Saturday evening. The crew of the steamer Foxton heard the sound of a splash and noticed a bicycle on the wharf. The indications were that the rider had fallen over the edge of the wharf. The police recovered the body an hour later. _ In attempting to recover a dinghy which broke away from his yacht, a youth was drowned at Waiheke Island on Saturday. He was William Edward Lawrence, aged 19, of St. Helier’s Bay. WOMAN’S COLLAPSE. Mrs Catherine Atkinson, aged 72, who lives at 108 Dundas street, collapsed at the corner of King and Howe streets on Saturday night, and was admitted to the Hospital suffering from contusions and abrasions. _ She was placed on the dangerously ill list, but her condition to-day was reported by the authorities to he satisfactory, though she was still seriously ill. BODY IN HARBOUR. The body of Lawrence Sheriff, aged 80, was found yesterday afternoon near the Spit, at the entrance to the Otago Harbour. Mr Sheriff had been missing from his home in Mary street, Port Chalmers, ‘ since September 22. The inquest was held this afternoon at Port Chalmers, the coroner being Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M. ELDERLY WOMAN’S FALL. As the result of a fall at her home at Allan ton yesterday afternoon, Kate Olsen, aged 60,' was admitted to the Hospital at 9.30 last night. She slipped and fell from a concrete ramp. Her condition to-day was reported to be satisfactory. \ FATAL COLLISION.

Lance-bombardier Desmond M. Bollons died in tlie Wellington Hospital early this morning following a collision between a car and a pylon at Customhouse Quay at 2 a.m. A companion, L. Paul, a Hataitai chemist, is in a satisfactory condition following concussion and facial injuries. Bollons was the son of the late Captain John Bollons, a former master of the Tutanekai.—Press Association. INQUEST OPENED.

The death occurred ih the Public Hospital this morning of James Dillon, aged 54, a married man, residing at 52 Harrow street, who was admitted to the institution on September 14 with a fractured pelvis. Mr Dillon, an employee of the City Corporation, received his injury when a truck was backing at the corporation’s yard in Ward street and knocked him oyer. The inquest was opened this afternoon at the Hospital. Evidence of identification was given, and the coroner (Mr H. W. Bundle, S ; M.) adjourned the proceedings sine die.
