Selected applicants will: be given varied fieldexperience in forest work for a preliminary training period of 3 to 6 months; those showing sufficient aptitude will then be offered a short course of instruction, satisfactory progress in which will result in immediate promotion to Leading Hand status on a wage of 245, plus 2s cost of living, per day. Leading Hands'are required principally in connection with the establishment and development of afforestation schemes involving big employment of labour, and there are opportunities for advancement for Leading Hands with ambition and the necessary • educational . qualifications..
