DISPLAY BY SIX BANDS An impressive display of marching and music was given by six Highland pipe bands yesterday afternoon at tho Caledonian Ground before a fairly large crowd of spectators. The bands, which were supervised by cx-Drum-major T. Gilchrist, were the Dunedin Highland Pipe Band and bands from Milton. Alexandra, North Otago, Taieri, and Strath Taieri. Each of the bands gave individual displays of marching and they cross-marched in pairs, while the Dunedin Pipe Band gave a more intricate display, which included many complicated manoeuvres. A party of Highland dancers also provided a rational dance. The programme was concluded with a massed display by all the bands. Throughout the afternoon the marching and piping were of a high standard. In the evening a concert was given in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall. when, in addition to selections by the hands and pipe numbers by.individual members, a party consisting of ■ Misses L. Robertson, E. Bovin, P. Reid, and S. Smith danced in reels. Items were also given by Messrs Arthur Robertson and George Butler, and Misses Bertha Rawlinson and M. Summerville. Mrs Kirk-Burnnand played the accompaniments, The Mayor, Mr D. C. Cameron, presided at the evening concert, and also welcomed the bandsmen at the display in the afternoon.
