PRELIMINARY ASSESSMENT STEPS (Rec. 10.55 a.m.) LONDON. Oct. 19. Machinery for the formulation of the United Nations organisation's budget and the assessment of member nations' contributions was dealt with in a sub-committee report tothe Preparatory Commission. Executive Committee. The report proposes that the Assembly, early in its session, should establish an export standing committee to handle contributions and prepare a detailed list of expenses. It also recommends that' contributions should be assessed and paid in tho currency of the country in which the United Nations organisation has its headquarters. The executive accepted the report,'' subject to* a provision suggested by M. Gromyko that the final decision should be deferred until his and other Governments had time to consider it in their capitals and receive expert advice.
