VIENNA'S FOOD AND FUEL
MORE STRINGENT CONTROL (Rec. 11:55 a.m.) VIENNA, Oct. 19. Brigadier Reginald Palmer, the British representative on the Interallied Kommandature, announced that the Kommandature had agreed to exercise more stringent control over the distribution of food in Vienna. All zones within a month would receive the same rations, and the black market, would be eliminated. He added that the Kommandature has sent a Note to the Allied Control Commission pointing out the grave fuel situation. All Viennese able to go to the country for the winter were urged to do so. Help, meanwhile, would be given to repair Vienna's houses.
The Kommandature has decided to. strengthen Vienna's police and allocate some control to the municipality. It has also agreed to abolish the curfew within a few days. Only places of entertainment would then have to adhere to the present early hours.
