OVERBOARD FROM SWEEPER
DUNEDIN SEAMAN LOST (Special.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 20. Leading Seaman Raymond A. Downes, whose next of kin _ reside at Duned'in, lost his life during minesweeping operations in Hatirnki Gulf. He was carried overboard when a trawl was being operated from the minesweeper Kiwi, and all efforts at rescue failed. Following the usual practice, a naval Court of Inquiry is investigating the circumstances of the accident.
