LOCAL BODIES
CONFERENCE IN DUNEDIN A conference of South Island Local Bodies will be held in Dunedin next week from Tuesday to Friday. About 100 delegates are expected to be present, and the president of the South Island Local Bodies' Association, Mr E. H. Andrews (Mayor of Christchurch), will occupy the chair. The following programme has been arranged : Tuesday.—7.3o p.m., a meeting of the executive in the committee Toom of the Municipal Chambers; 9 p.m., supper with members of Dunedin City Council. Wednesday.—lo a.m., welcome by the Mayor (Mr D. C. Cameron) to delegates and visiting ladies in the Concert Chamber, and morning tea, followed by the opening of the conference; 2.30 p.m., a drive around Otago Peninsula for visiting ladies and the wives of city councillors, with afternoon tea at Highcliff Cafe; 8 p. m., a social evening to delegates and visiting ladies in the Tudor Room of the Savoy. Thursday.—lo a.m., resumption of conference in the Concert Chamber, tour of the city by visiting ladies and wives of city councillors—assemble in mavoral reception rooms for morning tea"; 7 p.m., a meeting of Otago delegates in the Council Chambers to discuss with the Mayor (Mr D. C. Cameron) the arrangements for the Otago Centennial in 1948; 8 p.m., visiting members of Otago Regional Planning Council to meet in the Council Chambers. ;- - Friday.—9 a.m., a visit to the Waipori hydro-electric works, returning to Dunedin about 4.45 p.m.
