ROUND-UP OF AUSTRIAN NAZIS

(Rec. 8 a.m.) LONDON, October 18. The United States Military Government in Austria arrested 6,000 important Nazis and removed 12,000 lesser members of the party from office, says the Associated Press correspondent in Vienna. It is disclosed that the Nazis were found in a good proportion of the higher posts in Austrian economic and political life, but before the arrests could be made gaols had to be prepared for dangerous Nazis. Punishment is being meted out to a Fascist organisation which was in being before the anschluss in 1938.
