NO CARGO FOR JAVA
WELLINGTON WATERSIDERS WON'T LOAD ALCINQUS LABOUR POLICY STATEMENT EXPECTED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 17. Agaffi: to-day no cargo was loaded into the Aleinous, which the waterside workers at Wellington had, ceased to work yesterday because she is bound for : Java. About 300 tons of general cargo remain to be placed in her holds. Two hours' l 'rain in the afternoon would have prevented a full day's work being done m any case. The attitude of the Wellington branch of the New Zealand Waterside Workers! Union is that its members will not load a Dutch vessel bound for Indonesia till the political situation there is clearer. A statement of the'policy of the industrial Labour movement in New Zealand may' result from a meeting of the New Zealand Federation of LabouT executive this week, at which the loading of Dutch' vessels- is expected to'be considered. A request made by the. Australian Council of Trade Unions that a delegation be sent to the East Indies has been supported -by the New Zealand Waterside Workers' Union.
