NO ADVICE LOCALLY

SYMPATHETIC CONSIDERATION ASSURED The Mayor (Mr D. C. Cameron) informed the ' star \ this morning that no direct communication concerning the matter of the possible use of Army buildings as a transit housing, scheme had yet been received by him, but. that any proposals submitted by the Minister (the Hon. W. Nash) would receive immediate and sympathetic consideration by the City Council's Housing Committee and Finance Committee.

It will be remembered that the Mayor had already suggested to the Minister of Defence (the Hon. F. Jones) that the buildings at the Taien air station might be made available for a transit camp, but whether Mr Nash's scheme, involves the removal of buildings such as those nearer to the cities is not yet clear.
