CAPITULATION IN CHINA
KAI-SHEK'S ARRANGEMENTS ACCEPTED CHUNGKING,_ August 20. The Japanese army in China has accepted Marshal Chiang Kai-shek’s arrangements for a formal surrender. General Okamura has. told the Marshal by radio that the Japanese surrender envoys w r ould to-morrov’ proceed to Chih'kiang to receive orders from the commander of China’s field forces.
Marshal- Chiang Kai-shek ordered l Genera] Okamura, commander of the Japanese forces in China,, to fly the surrender envoys to Chihkiang to capitulate' to the Chinese field commander. General Ho Ying-chin. One of the Japanese delegates will be General Okamura’s deputy chief of staff, General Kiyoshi. who has been ordered to carry maps showing the deployment of all the Japanese troops in China, Formosa, and Indo-China. Next Wednesday has been set as the deadline.
