BRITISH CIVIL LINES
PUBLIC CONTROL PLANNED LONDON, August 17. Socialist members of the House of Commons who have been investigating British civil aviation matters reveal that a new plan to bring all regular Uritish air services under public control is being worked out, and will be submitted in the autumn by Lord W.ilister, says the 1 Daily Express.’ The proposals set out in the Coalition Government’s White Paper to create a three-in-one monopoly, with British Overseas Airways Corporation as the controlling body, are likely to be scrapped, except for the [British-South American air service.
it is expected that a now plan will nut British post-war airlines in the hands of one or two Governmentsponsored ".dorporations, which, would run on a non-profit-making basis. Airfields in Britain under a new plan will he publicly owned and not left to local authority maagement. It is estimated that 10,000 mechanics and engineers can be absorbed in the aerodromes’ service. Reciprocal arrangements, already made with overseas Governments, will probably stand under the new man.
