TRIAL OF QUISLING
TO BEGIN TO-DAY
OSLO August 19. Quisling has been transferred from a police prison to Akershus Fortress in readiness for his trial, which begins to-morrow. Akershus is a twelfth cen. tury fortress im which are housed Norway’s most dangerous criminals. Quisling is calm but haggard. 1 He has prepared more than 100 pages of testimony. He is being tried before a. court of justice consisting of three judges and four civilians, under the leading presiding magistrate, the famous lawyer, Erik Solem. A barrister, Annaeus Schjoedt, has been appointed prosecuting counsel, and Henrik Bergh is defending counsel. The indictment document is one of 14 pages. The prosecution will call many witnesses, ; including several prominent German prisdners. Hundreds of foreign journalists and several foreign, lawyers have arrived at Oslo to witness the case. Intense interest has been' aroused throughout the country.
