SCENE ON MIVO RIVER
ORec. 8 a.m.) SYDNEY, August 19. Japanese envoys, carrying whitb flags, conferred with'the Australians in Southern Bougainville yesterday morning on the terms for surrender. They crossed the Mivo River, scene of the recent fierce fighting, and were met by Australian officers who had been waiting three days for them. The Japanese returned to their lines late yester dav carrying the terms prepared by the Australian corps commander. Lieuten-ant-general S. G. Savage. So far there is no report of any Japanese surrender move in New Guinea. New Britain, or Borneo.
