GENERAL WAINWRIGHT SAFE

NEW YORK, August 16. The Vice-Chief of the General Staff of Chungking, General Wedemeyer. announced that Lieutenant-general Wainwright. the defender of Corregidor. was found by a medical team, which landed by parachute, safe and well in a prisoner of war camp 100 miles northwest of Mukden, in Manchuria.
