MACANDREW BAY ORPHANS' CLUB

There was a good attendance of members at the Macandrew Bay Orphans’ Club on Saturday evening,'the occasion being past presidents’ night. Following the loyal toast and opening ode, President 810. E. H. Barrett installed Past President Bro. J. P. Vivian in the chair. Bro. Vivian called on members to honour a victory toast. During the evening an excellent varied programme was provided by the following:—Songs —Bro. A. McEwan, Bro. J. Niven, Bro. J. P. Vivian, Bro. J. Thomson; violin solos, Bro. R. Penty; humour, Bro. W. Timms; recitation, Bro. Vivian. A visitor from the Wellington Orphans’ Club (Bro. Harland) was accorded a very warm welcome, and suitably replied. The accompanist was Bro. R. J. Nicholson. The toast, “ Past Presidents.” was proposed by Bro. Sudden and responded to by Bro. J. P. Vivian. An enjoyable evening was brought to a close with the singing of the New Zealand National Anthem.
