HEW “PEOPLE’S CAR"

PRODUCTION IN BRITAIN (Rec. 8 a.m.) RUGBY, August 18. A new “ peoples ” car is on the way. A highly interesting development m “ little ” cars is placed high on the production programme of one of the leading United Kingdom motor manufacturers. It is a low-priced car which will do 50 miles an hour and 60 miles to the gallon. Although rated at five liorse-power, it will develop a good deal more than that. , . The ‘ News Chronicle ’ reports that it will be mass-produced, and it is expected to be immensely popular as a “ people’s ” car for the working man. The “ little ” cars in which the United Kingdom manufacturers have specialised made a great impression on Britain’s war-time visitors, in particular the American troops.
